Joan D. Stuart, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 01, 2024. She was born on June 25, 1935 in Washington, DC; a daughter of the late Edward William and Jean (Meredith) Davenport. On December 12, 1954 in Ft. Lincoln Chapel, Prince George County, Maryland; she was united in marriage to James D. Stuart, Sr.
She is survived by her husband and children; Kim D. Stuart Taylor married to Lawrence; James D. Stuart, Jr., married to Fran; Guy H. Stuart married to Mary; Faith Stuart and Hope Stuart Paulson married to Joseph; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Techel, Melissa Davenport, Mary Sanders and Edward Davenport; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by a sister Sara Sue.
Joan was a Special Education Teacher for 25 years in Prince Georges County and she loved children.
Joan was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Breezewood Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary for many years, Whips Cove Pals Club, Special Education Alumni Association in Prince George, MD, the Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Police No. 23. Joan loved tending to her gardens, being at the fire hall and spending time with the ladies at the church social hall.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home.
