Jearld Diehl Obituary

Jearld L. Diehl, 82, of Everett, PA; went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  He was born at home in Ashcom on August 20, 1942, a son of the late Alvin and Eva Maria (Swindell) Diehl.  On April 24, 1964 he married Betty A. (Diehl) Diehl.

Along with his wife of sixty years, he is survived by children Sherry married to Quinn Dowlin, Everett; Peggy Miller, Everett and Troy Diehl of Clymer, PA.  He was the happy grandfather of ten: Fyline Miller, Brett Beck, Crystal Beck, Steven, Andrew and Alicia Miller, Jared, Elizabeth, Nicholas and Christian Diehl.  He was also the happy great grandfather of seven: Damion, Aidan and Yasmin Miller, Kyren and Klaven Wilson, Laina Mock and Alastor Diehl.  Jearld is survived by siblings Rick, Randy, Bill, Jack (Connie), James (Karen), Ann Sponsler, Carol Wallace and Joyce (Jack) Uhland.

He was preceded in death by siblings Bruce, Barry, Jane, Shirley and Bonnie.

Mr. Diehl graduated from Bedford High School Class of 1962, where he played football.

Jerry worked thru his career at J.L.G. Industries, New Enterprise Stone and Lime and last as a corrections officer at the Bedford County Jail.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and earlier in life was a volunteer for the Raystown Ambulance and the Everett Food Pantry.

As many know him as Pappy Diehl, he was a character being ornery and telling jokes always bringing a smile or laugh to someone.  We will miss his ornery grin and smile.
