Jason Price, 52, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2026 at his home.
He was born on April 18, 1973 in Everett, Pennsylvania, the son of Karen Smith of Bedford, Pennsylvania, and Jerry (Vicki) Price of Greencastle, Pennsylvania. Along with his parents, he is survived by his brother Andy (Katie) Thomas and nieces Khloe, Aubrey, Kylie, and Allie, all of Bedford; his longtime partner, Lisa Cunningham, and their three cats, of Pittsburgh; and numerous step-siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Anna Louise (Jay) Smith, and his paternal grandparents, Elwood and Lyda (Means) Price, all of Everett.
Jason found great joy in hiking, independent films, landscape paintings, the Pittsburgh Symphony, and nonfiction literature. He loved cooking, music of all kinds — often played as loudly as possible, Sprint Car racing, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins.
He was a beautiful writer, played a mean air guitar, and brought joy to everyone around him by constantly serenading them with silly made-up songs. He was a deeply empathetic person who cared about protecting the environment and loved not only cats, but nearly every animal he ever met, often taking detours just to walk past the birds outside the National Aviary.
After graduating from Everett High School in 1991, Jason received an associate degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1993, a bachelor's degree in journalism & communication from Point Park College in 1997, and a master’s degree in journalism from West Virginia University in 2000.
Since 2010, he served as Marketing Manager for the Community College of Allegheny County, where he was proud to help expand access to education for students of all backgrounds. Earlier in his career, he also served as a copywriter for SWB&R in Allentown, Pennsylvania; marketing assistant for STULZ Air Technology Systems in Frederick, Maryland; sales and promotions manager at The Herald-Mail in Hagerstown, Maryland; and marketing coordinator at Dorrance Publishing in Pittsburgh.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.
