Janet L. Ritchey, 88, of Christian Street, Hopewell, PA; passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at home. She was born on January 23, 1932 in Hopewell, PA; a daughter of the late Samuel and Lela Gladys (Miller) Zimmerman.
She was married to Jacob Ritchey on October 6, 1961. She is survived by two daughters Lisa E. North, Austin, TX and Susan G. Dodson married to Vince, Hopewell, PA; four grandchildren Douglass, Lauren, Devin and Dave; and a brother Richard Zimmerman married to Reta.
She was preceded in death by siblings Samuel Zimmerman, Elizabeth Santarelli, George Zimmerman, Isabelle Truax, John Zimmerman, Anna May Crandall, James Zimmerman, and Joyce Winter.
She was a Graduate of Robert P. Smith High School, Class of 1949.
Janet was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.
She served as Head Waitress at Gateway Restaurant.
She loved to shop and could always put together a nice outfit. She was an avid Steelers and Cubs fan (more so when they would win), a skilled fisherman and a champion marble shooter.
Her hobbies included crocheting, embroidery, painting, music, dancing, and reading (Nora Roberts was a favorite). Most days began with the newspaper and crossword puzzle (which she would almost always complete) and a chat with her long time friend Ladonna Kline.
Friends and Family will be received on Sunday, September 27, 2020 from 12:30 P.M. until the hour of service 2:00 P.M. at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678. We ask that those in attendance would follow CDC guidelines by wearing a mask and following social distancing.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Akers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Joshua Beben officiating.
Burial will be held at Steele Cemetery, Hopewell, PA.
