Janet K. (Shaffer) Colledge

Janet K. Colledge, 80, of Everett, PA; passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  She was born on January 2, 1945 in Everett, PA: a daughter of the late Ralph H. and Hazel M. (Lawhead) Shaffer.  On December 2, 1963 in Winchester, VA; she married Robert A. Colledge, he preceded her in death on May 25, 2023.  They were married fifty-nine years.

She is survived by three sons, Mark A. Colledge of Everett; Todd A. Colledge married to Cathy (Smyers) of Breezewood, Toby A. Colledge married to Angela E. (McFarland) of Breezewood; two granddaughters Macey J. Mowery married to Darren and Brooke A. Colledge; two great grandchildren Samuel A. Mowery and Sylvia Mowery; siblings Carol Leasure, Bonnie Shaffer, Cathy Foor, brother-in-law David Hess; and a niece Angela Dixon who was raised in her parents’ home and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Colledge and an infant son; a sister Deborah Hess and brother-in-law Rocky Leasure.

She was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1962.  Janet worked at Pete and Betty’s Diner; drove school bus for Jack and Delores Colledge and worked for the Everett Area School District for thirty-three years working at the Breezewood Elementary as a secretary, school nurse and teachers assistant until her retirement in 2009.

Mrs. Colledge was an active member of the Rays Cove Christian Church, where she served as the pianist for several years as well as Sunday school teacher, choir member, secretary and also sang with the Shining Rays.  Janet also was treasurer for the Rays Cove Cemetery Association for many years.

She enjoyed singing, playing games with family, and having family get togethers.  She also enjoyed family beach trips as well.

Friends and Family will be received on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 4-8 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Rays Cove Christian Church, 337 Christian Church Road, Breezewood, PA 15533 with Pastor Tom Smith officiating.

Burial will be held at Rays Cove Cemetery.
