Jan Callahan Hofacker, 80, of Raystown Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. He was born on June 21, 1943 in Everett, PA; a son of the late Franklin Hofacker and Isabelle (Smith) Pepple and step-father Lewis S. Pepple, Sr. He was united in marriage on February 5, 1972 in the First Christian Church to Catherine L. (Ross) Riehl-Hofacker. She preceded him in death on June 9, 1999.
He is survived by children Danny A. Riehl, Everett; Lori A. Nunamaker married to Gary, Osterburg and Herman A. Hofacker married to Nicole, Chambersburg; five grandchildren Kaleb Riehl, Karlee Riehl, Maynard Hall, Heather Hall, Ayla Hofacker and numerous great grandchildren; three siblings Pam Hofacker, Lewis Pepple and Melinda Brady.
He was a member of the First Christian Church. Jan was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1961. He served in the United States Marine Corp as a Cpl E-4 having served from September 20, 1961 until January 19, 1966.
Mr. Hofacker worked as an ironworker with Local Union No. 568, Cumberland, MD. He was a former member of the Everett American Legion Post No. 08 and a former charter member of Everett V.F.W. Post No. 2088.
Jan enjoyed various types of hunting, turkey, deer, mushroom and especially fox hunting with his dogs.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Akers Funeral Home, Inc. 299 Raystown Road, Everett from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
Burial will be held at Bethel Church Cemetery with full military honors by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jan to the Bedford County Humane Society, 182 Bohn Road, Bedford, PA 15522.
