James Earl Wertz, 78, of Bedford, PA; passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, PA. He was born on June 13, 1947 in Altoona, PA; a son of the late Earl Franklin and Catherine (Datres) Wertz. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Deborah (Miller) Wertz in 1993.
He is survived by a brother Eugene G. Wertz married to Donna K. of Bedford and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by siblings Martha Rose Dishong and Charles Wertz.
James was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1965. He served in the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War from 1966-1972.
He was a member of the Bedford American Legion Post No. 113 and Bedford V.F.W. Post 3508. Jim enjoyed hunting, auto racing, fishing and attending cruise-ins.
He spent his career as a mechanic working at Jenkins Chrysler, Bedford Chrysler and Ressler’s.
At Jim’s request there will be no services.
Burial will be held privately at Wood’s Church Cemetery.
