James Risbon, 88, of Risbon Road, Saxton, PA; passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Encompass Health in Altoona, PA. He was born on April 22, 1933 in Gallitzin, PA. On March 31, 1953 in Downington, PA he was united in marriage to the former Thelma ( Wadyka ) Risbon.
Along with his wife he is survived by children Susan Risbon, Milton, DE; Diane Ferguson married to Richard, Wilmington, NC; Carol Puccella married to John, Exton, PA and Kathy Valletto married to Steven, Katy, Texas; grandchildren John Barry Whiteman, James Risbon III, Jennifer LaNett, Joshua Risbon and Anthony Puccella; siblings Rosemary Zelanko, Verna Clifford, George Risbon and Albert Risbon.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a son James Risbon, Jr. and siblings Caroline Knowles, Margaret Maslanik, Thomas Risbon II, Lee Risbon and John Risbon.
James served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After the service he went on to work for Sears Roebuck where he started as a service technician and retiring as a service manager. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Downingtown, Saxton American Legion Post No. 4129 as well as the Saxton V.F.W. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, reading, playing shuffleboard and darts and working with his hands building various things. He will be remembered as quite the jokester.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678 with Pastor Tim McIntyre officiating.
Friends and Family will be received on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the chapel.
Burial will be held at Grandview Cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.
