James Daryl Cottle, Sr., 74, of Bunker Hill Road, Everett; lost his short battle with liver/gallbladder cancer on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 14, 1945 in Everett, PA; a son of the late Paul Sr. and Mary (Kichman) Cottle. On June12, 1970 in Flintstone, MD at the Mt. Top Holiness Church he was united in marriage to the former Ruby Mae (Abe) Cottle.
Along with his wife he is survived by children Darlene (Cottle) Shetler married to Allan and James Cottle, Jr. and fiancé Christy Leslie; grandchildren Jared, Joel, Jeremiah, Melissa, Sierra, Joyce and Wyatt; siblings John Ray Cottle married to the late Carla Cottle, Hopewell, PA; Robert Cottle, Married to Carolyn, Everett, PA; Paul Cottle, Jr. married to Arlene, Everett, PA; Shirley (Cottle) Clark married to Marl, Everett, PA; Beverly (Cottle) Sipes married to Richard, Everett, PA; August Cottle married to Dorothy, Everett, PA; Donald Cottle married to Vickie, Claysburg, PA; Sally (Cottle) Mowry married to Ray, Roaring Spring, PA; Henry Cottle married to Kathern, Everett, PA and Mary Alice (Cottle) Ritchey married to Pete, Hollidaysburg, PA; sister-in-law Mava Cottle, Loysburg, PA.
He was preceded in death by infant daughters Joyce and Brenda Cottle; siblings William Cottle and Martha Cottle.
James was a graduate of Northern Bedford High School Class of 1963. After graduating he went on to serve in the United States Army serving from 1965-1967 and completed one tour in Vietnam. After returning from the service he worked at the Everett Foodliner as a meat cutter for fifty-one years until his retirement. He was a member of the Clear Creek Brethren in Christ Church as well as the Bedford County Vietnam Veterans Association.
James was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Clear Creek Brethren in Christ Church with Rev. John Geyer and Rev. Walter Lancaster officiating.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, March 16, 2020 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett PA; from 4-8 P.M. and on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.
Burial will be held at Steele Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
