Ivadene (Retha) Hall Fischer, of Lutzville Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Homewood at Spring House Estates. She was born on August 23, 1933 in Clearville, PA; a daughter of the late Marl Allen and Roxie Gladys (Crawford) Hall. On November 2, 1956 in Clearville Methodist Church, she was united in marriage to her sweetheart, Paul T. “Lindy” Fischer. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2023.
Ivadene is survived by daughters Beverly D. Miller married to Lawrence; Brenda G. Fischer-Dennehy married to Michael; and Twila S. Fischer-Rice married to Oliver; as well as eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a step-brother Ray S. Crawford and his wife Maxine.
She was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1951. While Paul worked as a professional truck driver, Ivadene oversaw their family home. She managed the motel they owned together, Crystal Spring Motel, for many years. She also worked for a time in the kitchens at Family House Restaurant and Memorial Hospital of Bedford County; she retired from the bakery at Riverside Market.
Ivadene had a kind and gentle spirit with an easy smile. She found happiness in sewing clothing for her girls and their Barbie dolls and in quilting for her family. Warm apple or peach cobblers awaited visitors. Paul and Ivadene looked forward to family gatherings in their home.
A member of the Clearville Methodist Church, and later, the Everett United Methodist Church, she joined both UM Women groups. She volunteered as Clearville’s Secretary/Treasurer. At Everett, she taught children in Sunday and Vacation Bible Schools, visited as Lay Chaplain, enjoyed creating quilts for the UMW Mission auctions, and held down the 4th “Fischer” chair in the Chancel Choir. Ivadene rejoiced when Cottage #205 was acquired at Crystal Spring Camp Meeting. She attended the annual August services for over 55 years.
