The Honorable Kathy Sue Calhoun, 69, of Everett, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 30, 2026, at UPMC Altoona Hospital. Born on December 28, 1956, in Everett, Kathy was the daughter of the late George H. and Kathryn Marie (Ritchey) England. A proud 1974 graduate of Everett Area High School, she went on to complete her Magisterial Judge requirements at Wilson College.
Kathy dedicated her professional life to public service. She worked in Marian “Slim” Morgret’s office for twenty-one years before her appointment as Magisterial District Judge in 1996. Having earned her certification from the Supreme Court’s Minor Judiciary Education Board in 1993, she served her district with distinction for twenty-seven years until her retirement in 2023. Throughout her tenure, Kathy was widely respected for being fair, honest, and deeply committed to the law.
Outside of the courtroom, Kathy found her greatest joy in her family and simple pleasures. She loved shopping trips, beach vacations, and traveling with her special companion, Steve Witt—often with her beloved dog, "Ginger," by her side. Above all, she cherished her role as “Nanny” and “MiMi,” never missing an opportunity to attend her grandchildren's various events.
She is survived by a son Jesse Calhoun and wife Rene (Carlin) of Everett; grandchildren Jacob, Ethan, and Joey; a brother George H. England II and wife Jane (Wakefield) of Everett; niece Amy Guelich, and great-nieces Emily and Natalie Guelich and special companion Steve Witt.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation and services at the Everett Church of the Brethren, 119 East Second Street, Everett, PA 15537 on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the service begins.
