March 7, 1927 ~ November 20, 2020 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Herbert Divelbliss Obituary

Herbert E. Divelbliss, 93, of Crystal Spring, PA; went home to be with his Lord on Friday, November 20, 2020 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was born on March 7, 1927 in Hancock, Maryland; a son of the late Joseph and Carrie (Diehl) Divelbliss.  He was united in marriage to M. Alvera (Wilkins) Divelbliss on June 1, 1950. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2010. 

He is survived by sons Roger married to Janine, Gibsonville, NC; Rodney married to Patty (Peck), Crystal Spring, PA; Rex and fiancé Donna (Stevens) Hull, Hancock, MD; five grandchildren Shawn Divelbliss and wife Ella; Rodawn Divelbliss, Shanna Golden and husband Jeff, Cole Divelbliss and wife Ashley and Lindsay Turner.  Four step-grandchildren Dusti Ferry and Nick Cipriano, Jamie (VanPelt) Fischer married to David R., Dustin Hull and fiancé Megan Weller, Jenna (Hull) Lancaster married to Zachary; eight great grandchildren Cierra Divelbliss, Danielle Divelbliss, Kyndal Divelbliss, Sophia Turner, Brooks Divelbliss, Rex Divelbliss, Madelynne Golden and Henley Golden; seven step great grandchildren Carson Chambers, Blaine Fischer, Hope Fischer, Kolt Fischer, Paisley Hull, Seven Pearl Cipriano and Charley Hull.  He is also survived by a sister-in-law Olive Divelbliss of Hancock, MD and many nieces, nephews and their families. 

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by an infant son, H. Dwight Divelbliss and fourteen brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  He had attended the Pennwood Bible Church. 

Mr. Divelbliss was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army in Germany.  Upon returning to Fulton County, Herbert worked for his brother-in-law at Maynard Wilkins Agway driving the Hammermill (portable feed grinder) to farms throughout Fulton and Bedford County for forty-two years.  He finished out his working career as a custodian for the Southern Fulton School District in 2005.  Herbert loved working in his vegetable gardens.  He was known for his sweet corn and “wash” pickles, after surviving colon cancer he became content to keep his very large yards mowed to perfection.  Herbert had a strong faith in the Lord and will be missed by all that knew him. 

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Thomas Cemetery, St. Thomas, PA. with Pastor Ronald Hott officiating. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July, 17, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. at the Crystal Springs Camp Meeting Grounds, 1008 Camp Meeting Road, Crystal Springs, PA 15536.  Immediately following the service a time of refreshments and fellowship will be held at the Crystal Springs Camp Meeting Grounds.
