Helen C. Foor

Helen C. Foor, 75, of Everett, formerly of Johnstown, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Cambria Care Center in Ebensburg.

She was born in Johnstown on January 16, 1945, the only daughter of the late Robert Rex Schaeffer and Grayce Carter Schaeffer.  After graduating from Richland High School, she graduated from Conemaugh School of Nursing and began her career first at Conemaugh Hospital and then Lee Hospital in Johnstown.  Helen established a stellar career in nursing, working in multiple areas such as intensive care, oncology, and emergency medicine.  She worked for several years in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, then returned to work in Johnstown as a home nurse. 

In 1991, she met John A. Foor of Everett, and they married in March 1992.  Each brought children to the marriage, including Robert Rex Tiffany (Kelly Long); Richard Thompson; the late David Thompson; Lori Struble (the late Bruce Struble); Elizabeth Kukanich (Eric Kukanich); Karen Callaghan (Drew Callaghan); and Donald Thompson (Valerie Thompson).  Helen met the challenge of a blended family of adult children with equanimity and good humor, and to this day, the family continues to be a strong loving family.

Helen is survived by her husband, John, children Bob (B Rex) Tiffany, Rick Thompson, Elizabeth Kukanich, Lori Struble, Karen Callaghan, and Donnie Thompson. Grandchildren include Erica, Greg and Olivia Kukanich; Travis Struble; Starlette and Weston Keisel; Chase and Sierra Thompson; Laura and John Callaghan; Shane Thompson; Angie Leonard; and Matthew Wigfield (deceased), along with 11 great-grandchildren.

Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Johnstown and the Everett United Methodist Church.  She sang in the choir at both churches for many years.

A Private Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor David Calovi officiating.

Burial will be held privately at Everett Cemetery.
