Harry Beatty, III Obituary

Harry Lloyd Beatty III of Potsdam, New York, beloved husband and father, went home to be with
Jesus on Thursday, January 6, 2022. He was 72 years old. He died in the home of his son, in Mount
Vernon, Ohio, with his loving family around him.
Lloyd was born in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania, on May 27, 1949, to Harry Lloyd Jr. and Letitia
Jean (Hoffman) Beatty. He graduated from Tussey Mountain High School in 1967, and attended two
years at Penn State University where he obtained certification as a horticulturalist. He married Susan
Rebecca “Becky” Christopher, his faithful wife of 52 years, on March 24, 1969. Together they had two
sons, Harry Lloyd IV and Steven Lawrence.
Lloyd worked as a nuclear submarine welder in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War,
stationed in San Diego, California, and Rota, Spain. He also served six years in the Pennsylvania Army
National Guard in Everett, Pennsylvania. He worked as a welder in New York for many years, then
owned and operated a dairy farm in New York for thirteen years. From 1991 to 2006 he worked for the
Pennsylvania Fish Commission, first as a fish culturist at Big Springs, Pennsylvania, and then as an
assistant manager at Pleasant Gap Pennsylvania.
Lloyd was an avid fisherman and hunter, loved the mountains and the outdoors, was an expert in
all things wildlife and nature. He was a man of many talents, being skilled in carpentry and welding he
was able fix anything and everything. He was strong, capable and exceedingly wise. He loved and
protected his family to the end, and was loved by all who knew him. He was a wonderful man and will be
greatly missed.
Lloyd was a mighty man of valor that loved Jesus Christ, and his greatest desire was that
everyone would come to know his Savior. His family rejoices in the knowledge that he is now free and
safe in the arms of Jesus in Heaven, and that they will see him again.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his father Harry L Beatty Jr., and by his nephew Andrew Arquitt.
He is survived by his faithful and loving wife Becky; sons Harry (Jill) Beatty and Steven (Kate) Beatty;
mother Jean; brother Marvin Beatty; sisters Boni (Ben) Thrana and Anita Hoffman; and six
grandchildren: Ka’imilani, Lydia, Nathan, Johannah, Evan, and Rachel Beatty, each one of whom was his
favorite. He is also survived by his aunt Valla Rhea Strout; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews,
grand-nieces and grand-nephews, each of whom he dearly loved.
