H. Jean Wilt

H. Jean Wilt, 86 of Breezewood, died unexpectedly October 15, 2021 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.

She was born in Everett, a daughter of the late Foster C. and Frances M. (Whisel) Hixson.

On October 20, 1953 she married Myron D. Wilt at the Everett Church of the Brethren.  He preceded her in death on January 2, 2021.  She is survived by four daughters: Pamela J. Wilt, Breezewood, PA; C. Elaine Wilt, Breezewood, PA; Janie L. May married to Kenneth, Breezewood, PA and Jennifer L. Goodsite married to Thomas, Alpharetta, GA.  She leaves behind grandchildren Justin Barkman married to Amanda; Rebecca Leader married to Jeremy; Drew Barkman married to Kristen; Jessica Grove married to Jim; Kyle May and fiancé Carolyn; Bryce Goodsite and Rhese Goodsite; great-grandchildren Sidric and Tyson Grove, Keira and Eva Leader, Tyler and Page Barkman, Owen May and Vander Barkman; brother D. Clair Hixon, New Enterprise, PA.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by sisters F. Joan Widmann and Betty Lee Batzel.

Mrs. Wilt was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Breezewood where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School Teacher.  Her love for music and singing led her to become the first church choir director, which she cherished.

She had served on many PTA committees, was a past secretary of the Everett Free Library Board of Directors and both Myron and Jean were avid supporters of the Breezewood Volunteer Fire Company Turkey Dinners.

She was a very kind and generous woman who was actively involved with her children in their extracurricular activities, which included chaperoning many field trips, and hauling ponies to 4-H events.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbors.

The family wishes to thank caregivers Paul and Ella Peck, Dallas (Kay) McCoy, Martha Cook and Kathy Barton.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Breezewood, PA with Pastor Judith Simonson officiating.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 6-8 P.M. at Akers Funeral Home and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.

Burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
