Glen Gordon, 90, of Everett, PA; passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on June 30, 1933 at home in Everett; a son of the late Jacob R. and Amanda E. (Price) Gordon. On November 30, 1955 in Cumberland, MD; he was united in marriage to Norma P. (Calhoun) Gordon. She preceded him in death on October 7, 2023.
He is survived by a daughter Christie Hull married to Chris, New Enterprise, PA; grandson Tyler Hull, New Enterprise; great grandchildren Sydney, Logan and Evan Hull; siblings Gladys Stuckey, Everett, Samuel Gordon, Everett, Sara Jane Plummer married to Wayne, Everett and Sylvia Grimes married to Jim, Everett; sisters-in-law Patricia Beegle married to Bob, Bedford; JoAnn Calhoun, Everett and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by siblings Stanley Gordon, Mary Edith Smith, William Paul Gordon, Russell Gordon, Roy Gordon, Ralph Gordon, Raymond Gordon and Vance Calhoun.
Mr. Gordon was a member of the Mt. Union Christian Church, where he served as a deacon.
He was a graduate of Everett Area High School, Class of 1953. He served in the United States Navy from 1955-1957 as a seaman stationed in Key West, Florida, having served on the USS Tanner in Turkey. Throughout his career he worked for the Pennsylvania Turnpike and later working at Hedstrom for thirty years until his retirement.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, singing, square dancing, playing cards, going to yard sales, taking car rides and putting jigsaw puzzles together. He served as president of the Do-Si-Do's square dancing club alongside his wife and also served as treasurer for the Mt. Union Cemetery Association for many years.
He was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Friends and Family will be received on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 4-8 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mt. Union Christian Church with Pastor Todd Greenawalt officiating.
Burial will be held at the Mt. Union Cemetery with full military honors by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Glen to the Mt. Union Christian Church.
