Gerald "Bunk" King Obituary

Gerald H. “Bunk” King, 88, of Ritchey Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020 at home surrounded by family.  He was born on June 22, 1931 in Elkins, WV; a son of the late Carl and Edith (Boyles) King.  On April 11, 1953 in Cumberland, MD; he married S. JoAnn (Ritchey) King.  She preceded him in death on August 1, 2019.

He is survived by daughters Brenda married to Randy F. Brant, New Paris, PA; Christy married to Dale Chamberlain; Karen married to Mark Evans; and Bethany Colledge, all of Everett, PA; grandchildren Matthew, Aaron, Tamara, Macey and Brooke; ten great grandchildren; siblings Carl King married to Louise and Jeanne Ritchey married to Marl.

He was preceded in death by siblings Sylvan “Sib” King, Sam King, Denny King, Joe King, Lassie King, Wayne King and Juanita Felton.

Jerry was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1949.  He served in the United States Army as a Corporal from 1952-1954 during the Korean War earning a National Defense Service Medal.   He was a member of the Everett Church of God.

He spent his career as a diesel mechanic working for Eastern Express and Ryder/PIE, after retirement he drove CART van for fifteen years.

Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an expert turkey hunter.  He loved his pets, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, singing and watching boxing.  He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, the more the better.   He enjoyed guessing answers before anyone else when he watched jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.  Jerry loved his country and was a proud member of the Everett V.F.W. Post 2088 and was a past commander and fifty-six year member of the Everett American Legion Post No. 08.

He was a proud Pap of all of his grandchildren and taught them all to hunt and fish like pros.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Spring Meadow Family Worship Center, 2875 Quaker Valley Road, New Paris, PA at 4:00 P.M. with Pastor William Kisner and Pastor Randy F. Brant officiating.  Friends and Family will be received from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the church.  Military honors will be conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
