George R. Hoey, Sr.

George R. Hoey, Sr., 76, of Saxton, Pennsylvania; passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at home surrounded by family.  He was born on June 21, 1942 in Baltimore, MD; a son of the late Howard Hoey and Catherine (Geppi) Hoey.  On May 23, 1965 in Baltimore, MD he married Connie L. (Brindle) Hoey.

Along with his wife he is survived by children Catherine I. married to Jesse Free, Hanover, PA, Kelly Jo married to David Reese, Hollidaysburg, PA, George R. Hoey Jr., married to Mandy (Richards) Hoey, McConnellsburg, PA, Anthony L. Hoey married to Sabrina (Leonard), Hollidaysburg, PA and Jessica D. married to Joshua Shively, Saxton, PA; siblings Vernon Hoey married to Barbara, Baltimore, MD, Louis Hoey married to Barbara, Baltimore, MD.  Grandchildren: Lindsay Free, Mason Free, Kelsi Bergmann, Anthony L. Hoey, Jr., Dalton Hoey, Tyler Hoey, Brady Hoey, and Wyatt, Sophie and Ava Brumbaugh.  Great-Grandchildren Josie, Hailee, Savannah, Carter, Aubrey, Addison, Cole, Haiden and Aerieanah.

George worked as a driver for Dolly Madison in Baltimore, MD and later as a self-employed painter; he painted for over thirty years in the Saxton area and was well known and loved by many.  George was also a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dudley.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678, with Pastor John Bennett officiating.

Friends and Family will be received on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Funeral Chapel.

If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of George to the American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin St #206, State College, PA 16803.

Burial will be held privately at Broad Top I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Broad Top City, PA.
