Gary L. Mickle, 75, of Mock Ridge Road, Alum Bank, PA; passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020. He was born on July 25, 1945 in Altoona, PA; a son of Avanelle (Mock) Mickle and the late Harold Mickle. On November 25, 1967 at the Bedford United Methodist Church, he was united in marriage to Faye D. (McDonald) Mickle.
Along with his loving wife and mother he is survived by daughter Charity married to Mark Meyer and son-in-law Walt Michaels; two grandchildren Adora and Kenton; siblings Wendy married to Steve Wallace and Robert Mickle married to Kim; along with many other living family members.
He was preceded in death by daughter Stephanie Michaels and a brother Terry Mickle.
Gary owned and operated Mickle’s Barbershop for forty-six years until retirement. Customers came from miles around this quaint shop to listen to local gossip and aggravate each other. Gary was known for his quick wit and ability to torment his customers.
He was a graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School Class of 1963 and completed barber schooling in Johnstown.
Gary attended Faith Brethren Bible Church.
He proudly sponsored local baseball, softball and bowling league teams over the years.
He loved the outdoors; he was an avid hunter and had a green thumb. Gary loved bicycling, golfing and adored his family and friends. Clifford Hummer and Alan Noel have been incredible friends; supporting and encouraging him especially during his years battling Parkinson’s disease.
His family is so thankful that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and is now in heaven “pain free” and full of joy.
A Private Memorial Service will be held for the family at Faith Brethren Bible Church with burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.
If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gary to the Faith Brethren Mission Fund. The family requests no flowers please.
