Gary Lundquist Obituary

Gary David Lundquist, 67, of Hopewell, passed away on January 24, 2021 from a brief battle with cancer. He was born on January 1, 1954, in Hopewell, he was the son of the late Art and Rhonda “Fritz” Lundquist.

He is survived by son, Jared, partner Aerin Blackstone and children Katana, Abel and Gauge. Also, siblings Deloris Eichelberger Territo of Martinsburg, Cindy Baker and husband Bill of Saxton, Tom and wife Kathy of Greencastle, sister-in-law, Bonnie Lundquist and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Ron Lundquist, brothers-in-law Raymond “Red” Eichelberger and Marty Territo.

Gary graduated from Northern Bedford High School Class of 1971 where he was recognized for football and track skills. He also completed a Commercial Sheet Metal program at Thaddeus Stevens Trade School in 1973. Shortly after graduation he worked for a company that sent him to Israel for a year. He worked for numerous companies over his career, the longest employer was probably RL Insulation of Hopewell.

He loved the outdoors and was known for making jelly from grapes and berries he gathered around his house. He shared the jelly with many friends and neighbors. Gary was a member of Saxton Sportsmen as well as the VFW and American Legion.

An outside Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Gary’s Pond, 844 Jack’s Corner Road, with Pastor Jill Clawson sharing.
