Galen L. Calhoun

Galen L. Calhoun, 80, of Everett, PA; passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  He was born on November 17, 1940 in Mench, PA; a son of the late Harold W. and Dorothy (Zimmerman) Calhoun.  On August 12, 1967, he was united in marriage to Jo Ann (Bower) Calhoun.  

Along with his wife of fifty-four years he is survived by children Terry Calhoun and fiancé Brandy Nave of Everett and a daughter Amy Calhoun also of Everett, PA; grandchildren Alexis Calhoun and fiancé Zach Moses of Carlisle and Alexander Calhoun of Pittsburgh; and two sisters, Norma married to Glen Gordon of Everett and Patricia married to Robert Beegle of Bedford.

Galen was employed for forty years at the Ashcom Plant of New Enterprise Stone and Lime as a tube mill supervisor, a job that he really enjoyed; he was friends with many of his co-workers.  He retired in 2002.

Galen enjoyed dirt track stock car racing and following Nascar.  He also liked classic cars and race cars, having owned some with his son Terry.  He also enjoyed attending car shows and cruise-ins.  Galen also liked animals, having had many dogs and cats over the years.

He was a member of the Everett Church of the Brethren, where he enjoyed helping with Religious Release Time for the school children.  He was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1959. 

He enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren. 

Services will be held privately in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home.

Burial will be held at Mt. Union Cemetery.
