Franklin D. Shaffer, 87, of Everett, PA; passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Homewood at Martinsburg. He was born on April 6, 1933 in Everett, Pennsylvania; a son of the late Harry and Bessie (May) Shaffer. On December 29, 1949 in Cumberland, Maryland; he married his wife and soul mate of sixty-seven years Doris N. (Drenning) Shaffer. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2017.
He is survived by daughter Cathy A. married to James Clark, Everett, PA and four legged friends and companions Heidi and Henley.
He was the last surviving member of his twelve siblings.
Frank attended the Everett United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1951, where he was active in sports, lettering in Baseball, Basketball and Football. He received his Bachelors of Science in Industrial Arts at Millersville University and Masters from Pennsylvania State University in Guidance Counseling.
Frank's career in education started at Bedford High School from 1964-1970 as Industrial Arts teacher. He then served as Guidance Counselor at Everett Area School District from 1970 until his retirement in 1998. He was so proud of his students and seeing them reach success in life. Over the years he worked for Exxon Mobile part time and full time from 1951-1970.
He was a member of the Everett Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. No. 524, Altoona Consistory, Tall Cedars, Altoona Jaffa Shrine and the Cove Jaffa Shrine Club. Frank enjoyed hunting, traveling, reading, gardening and was an avid Penn State fan along with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.
Above all was his great love for his family and spending time with them.
A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held.
