Frank Joseph Samuel, Sr., 94, of Ritchey Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on January 1, 1929 in Copper Hill, NJ; a son of the late Adam and Josephine (Karbaski) Samuel. On November 5, 1955 in Pittstown, New Jersey; he was united in marriage to Doris (Cronce) Samuel.
Along with his wife of sixty-seven years, he is survived by children Patricia married to D. Lynn Ritchey, Frank Samuel, Jr. married to Wendy, Barbara married to Gerald Mearkle and JoAnn Deike; grandchildren Jeremy Ritchey married to Sheena, Jason Ritchey married to Jackie, Brian Ritchey married to Ashley, Adam Samuel married to Vanessa, Katie married to Daniel Boonie, Cindi Feather married to Charles, and Jamie Mearkle; great grandchildren Austin and Aden Ritchey, Jackson and Bentley Ritchey, Ally and Emma Ritchey, Shane and Scott Feather, and Parker Samuel; and a sister Florence Samuel.
He was preceded in death by siblings Matthew Samuel and wife Sophie, Eugenia Petock and husband Joseph, Laura Price and husband Howard, Olga and husband Nick Przewoznik, Helen and husband George Ference, Grace Hashim and husband Raymond, Edward Samuel and wife Virginia, Virginia and husband Adam Kutiak.
Frank was of the Christian Faith.
He served in the United States Army as a Corporal stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
He worked as a carpenter and a dairy farmer throughout his life. He was also a jack-of-all-trades, always willing to help his children and grandchildren with repairs around their homes.
Frank was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #254; Whitehouse American Legion Post No. 0284 and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.
He enjoyed taking walks in the woods, watching wildlife, woodworking, cutting firewood and caring for his animals on the farm.
Friends and Family will be received on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 10 A.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Rev. Robert R. Robertson.
Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery with full military honors by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
