Evelyn Ruth Clingerman, 89, of Clearville, PA; passed away suddenly but peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Pennknoll Village with her family gathered around her. She was born on March 27, 1934 in Artemas, PA; a daughter of the late John Dennis and Carolyn (Curren) Jay. On July 4, 1953 in Fairview Christian Church she married Charles D. Clingerman. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2020.
She is survived by four sons whom she adored; Roy Clingerman married to Sherry (Mills), Clearville, PA; Kenny Clingerman married to Paula (Waltman), Everett, PA; Daron Clingerman married to Stacey (Ramsey), Everett, PA; Lance Clingerman married to Yvette (Brallier), Clearville, PA. Grandchildren Shawn Clingerman married to Trisha; Nathalie Imler married to Eric; Shelly Fernandez married to Frank; Sloan Clingerman married to Jerrica; Taylor Clingerman married to Chelsea; Morgann Yonker married to Adam; Caden Clingerman married to Madysen, and Collin, Bryson and Avery Clingerman. She had ten great grandchildren Meah Eshelman, Ava and Kenley Imler, Mya and Charley Fernandez, Kate, Kyson and Kaliana Clingerman, Goldie Clingerman and Annsley and Benton Yonker; siblings Shirley Shipley, Larry and Denise Jay, Bonnie and Brad Foor.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Jack Shipley and a special aunt, Ruth Fizer.
Evelyn was a graduate of Everett High School class of 1950. She was a member of the Bethel Christian Church, where she played the organ and piano for many years. She was known as a great pianist and played for countless funerals and weddings throughout the years. She also was a member of the Chaneysville Senior Center.
Evelyn worked at various places throughout her life; Lions Manufacturing in Everett, a postal clerk in Artemas and Clearville post offices, Clingerman Inc. and as the tax collector of Mann Township for over forty years.
She enjoyed attending church, sitting on her porch in the country, visiting with friends and family and cooking. She loved cooking! She was always at the stove baking and filling the kitchen with delicious food, waiting for someone to stop for a visit, pay taxes or enjoy the food she had cooked. No one was a stranger to her and her house was always open. She will be greatly missed for her knowledge of family history and of the township.
Her greatest pride and joy was her "boys". There was always a story to be told and was never hesitate to speak of their accomplishments and about their families. She was very loved by all of her family and will be greatly missed.
A special thank you to the staff at Pennknoll Village for the love and care given to Evelyn for the last three years. "Granny", as she was nicknamed, always said she was "treated like family."
