She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Jack Shipley and a special aunt, Ruth Fizer.
Evelyn was a graduate of Everett High School class of 1950. She was a member of the Bethel Christian Church, where she played the organ and piano for many years. She was known as a great pianist and played for countless funerals and weddings throughout the years. She also was a member of the Chaneysville Senior Center.
Evelyn worked at various places throughout her life; Lions Manufacturing in Everett, a postal clerk in Artemas and Clearville post offices, Clingerman Inc. and as the tax collector of Mann Township for over forty years.
She enjoyed attending church, sitting on her porch in the country, visiting with friends and family and cooking. She loved cooking! She was always at the stove baking and filling the kitchen with delicious food, waiting for someone to stop for a visit, pay taxes or enjoy the food she had cooked. No one was a stranger to her and her house was always open. She will be greatly missed for her knowledge of family history and of the township.
Her greatest pride and joy was her "boys". There was always a story to be told and was never hesitate to speak of their accomplishments and about their families. She was very loved by all of her family and will be greatly missed.
A special thank you to the staff at Pennknoll Village for the love and care given to Evelyn for the last three years. "Granny", as she was nicknamed, always said she was "treated like family."
