Elsie Ruth (Warsing) Garlock, 87, of Everett, PA; passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Nancy’s Personal Care Home in Osterburg. She was born on December 30, 1935 in her grandparents’ home (Floyd and Elsie (Trout) Warsing) in Sherman’s Valley, a daughter of the late John Nelson Warsing, Sr. and Pearl Mildred (Brantner) Warsing. On August 18, 1975, she was united in marriage to Larry W. Garlock. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2023.
She was survived by two children Kandy L. married to Dana Troutman, Hopewell and Mathew L. Garlock married to Darcy, Hopewell; she was “Namma” to her five special grandsons Brook, River, Lake, Hunter and Chase; she is also survived by siblings Alice Georgine married to David O’Brien, Bedford, Martha Hall, Hopewell, Mildred married to Donald Weaver, Marianna, PA,, John Nelson Warsing, Jr. married to Harriet, Harrisonville, Lyda Taylor, Everett, Susan married to Sebert Weist, Everett, Julia married to Bob Layman, Everett, Margaret Teeters, Everett and Patricia Stallings married to Herb, Bertrand, MS; numerous nieces and nephews and a special cousin Bobby Warsing, Pensacola, FL.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents George and Alice (Hockeberry) Brantner, a brother Daniel Edward Warsing and brother-in-law Eldon Taylor.
Elsie was a member of the St. Paul’s Church of Yellow Creek. She was a graduate of Robert P. Smith High School Class of 1953. After graduation she went to work at Lion Manufacturing Co. in Everett from 1953-1975 as an inspector. While still working in the sewing factory, Elsie owned and operated Ft. Piper Diner in Hopewell from 1972-1975. She was later the co-owner of Garlock Furniture with her husband Larry for many years. While raising her children, she was a server at Kountry Kettle. Co-workers and customers alike knew her as “the one that could work circles around the young ones.”
Mrs. Garlock was a genealogy enthusiast. She always had a big garden and was known for her cookie baking and sewing. Elsie dedicated herself to taking great care of her siblings, nieces, nephews, husband, children and grandsons through the years. She stated above all her favorite part of life was being a “Mom”. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Friends and Family will be received on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Paul’s Church of Yellow Creek.
Memorial Service will be held at the St. Paul’s Church of Yellow Creek at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Gary Sams officiating.
Burial will be held at the Yellow Creek Reformed Cemetery.
