Ella S. (Smith) Bussard

Ella S. Bussard, 102, of Everett, PA; passed away at Colonial Courtyard on Thursday, May 14, 2026.  She was born on June 22, 1923; a daughter of the late Russell W. and Lura (Redinger) Smith.  She was united in marriage to Donald W. Bussard on March 13, 1946 in Winchester, VA.  He preceded her in death on May 21, 1990.    

She is survived by two sons Rodney A. Bussard married to Deborah, Mayodan, NC and Randy A. Bussard married to Wanda, Berlin, PA; four grandchildren Dustin Bussard, Kelli Corle, Alexis Lewis, Jared Bussard; four great grandchildren Austin, Chase, Jud, Mac and Evelyn; two great great grandchildren Ella and Colton Bussard.

She was preceded in death by siblings: William Smith, Lilly Ruby, Blaine Smith, Etta Roberts, Ralph Smith, Delaphine Ritchey, and Donald Smith.

She was a member of the Everett Church of the Brethren, over the years serving on many committees, teaching pre-school Sunday School for twenty-seven years and singing in the church choir.  Ella enjoyed going on ministry trips as a volunteer with the Brethren Disaster Relief.  She was a founding member of the Everett Lioness Club, where she earned the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award; she was also a member of Bedford County R.S.V.P. and the Red Hat Society.

Ella enjoyed bowling and being with family.   

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 from 2-6:00 P.M.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 6:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Benner officiating. 

Burial will be held privately at the Bedford County Memorial Park.

If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ella to the Everett Church of the Brethren, Gentiva Hospice or the Dementia Society of America.
