Elizabeth "Betty" Cypher Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” L. (McIntyre) Cypher, 100, of Saxton; passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Homewood at Martinsburg. She was born on December 11, 1919 in Six Mile Run, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Alexander McIntyre and Mary (Figard) McIntyre. In Winchester, VA in 1942 she was united in marriage to Joe Reed Cypher, he preceded her in death in 1993.  

She is survived by a son Dr. Thomas W. Cypher, Saxton, PA; daughter–in-law Joyce Snyder; brother-in-law Selwyn “Bud” Parks; grandchildren Kristin, Tricia, Mark, Julie, Jan and April; nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by a daughter Betty Parks; son Ed Snyder; daughter-in-law Kay Cypher; siblings Alexander “Bud” McIntyre; Richard “Dick” McIntyre killed in the Korean War and Catherine Browl. 

She was a member of Saxton United Methodist Church. 

Betty was a graduate of Broad Top High School. 

She had numerous jobs throughout her lifetime. She started working as an usher at the Six Mile Run Theater and also sold Avon. She was Rosie the Riveter in Akron, OH during WWII working on airplanes wings. Lastly, she was a care worker for the Area Agency on Aging. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at the Saxton United Methodist Church with Pastor Josh Beben officiating. 

Friends and Family will be received on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of the service. 

Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
