Edwina Jane Browell

Edwina Jane Browell, 86, of Carlisle, formerly of Everett, Pa., passed away on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at Cumberland Crossings, Carlisle, Pa. She was born on Oct. 30, 1936, in Everett, Pa., a daughter of the late John Himes and Helen Virginia (Oler) Browell.

She is survived by a son, Jason C. Arnold, Carlisle; a sister, Mary Miller; brother-in-law, Don Wareham; special niece, Alecia McGullion; and a special best friend, Joan Black.

She was preceded in death by siblings: Ann Wareham, Johnny Browell and Frances Woy; and brothers-in-law, Joseph “Doc” Miller and Jim Woy.

Edwina was a graduate of Everett Area High School, Class of 1954. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill.

She spent her career working for the federal government working with FEMA and the Dept. of Interior. She worked for various administrations, but was very proud that she lived in Washington, DC, and worked under the Kennedy administration.

Edwina enjoyed reading, working on genealogy, watching old movies, vanilla milk shakes and her dog Sasha. She had a love for animals and wildlife, along with a passion for wolves and environmental conservation. She faithfully supported and donated to the Sierra Club, the ASPCA and other environmental charities.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, at the Akers Funeral Home Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at noon.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, at noon in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor John Brock officiating.

Burial will be held at the Everett Cemetery.
