On December 23, 1950, Earl married Ina (Ritchey). She preceded him in death on December 8, 2020, just fifteen days before their 70th wedding anniversary.

Earl was a member of the Clear Creek Brethren in Christ Church where he was a deacon and adult Sunday School teacher for many years. During his life, Earl was a huckster, a coal truck driver (employing several drivers), construction worker, and finally, a house mover. House moving became Earl's passion. He often said he couldn't wait to get back to work on Monday mornings! He loved the challenge involved in moving all different kinds of buildings. Earl was a man of God who always dealt fairly with people and had no enemies.
