Dorothy "Betty" E. (Barkman) Henry

Dorothy E. “Betty” Henry, 93, of Earlston, Everett, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at home with family by her side. She was born on August 4, 1929 in Tyrone, PA; a daughter of the late Ernest Roy and Nellie Ethel (Snyder) Barkman.

On February 4, 1950 in Cumberland, Maryland she married Harry F. Henry; he preceded her in death on January 26, 2010.

She is survived by three children Gloria J. married to Robert Leydig, Everett; H. Max Henry married to Tammy (Williams), Everett and Marla G. married to Mark Pennabaker, Everett; grandchildren Don, Dan, David, Betsy, Adam, Lainie, Amanda, Mitchell and Wyatt and eleven great grandchildren Lance, Jackson, Camryn, Isobel, Dylan, Loralei, Lillian, Levi, Addison, Alexandra and Maddox.

She was preceded in death by a son Gary E. Henry, grandson Jerrod Mark Pennabaker, grandson-in-law Travis Feight and siblings Robert Barkman, John Barkman and Emma Grace Shriner.

Mrs. Henry was a member of the Everett Church of the Brethren and attended Snake Spring Valley Church of the Brethren.

She was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1947.  She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and cooking.  Betty loved “family time” and cherished her time with her grandchildren.

Friends may call at Akers Funeral Home, Inc. 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Monday, April 3, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Janet Sell officiating.

Burial will be held in Ritchey Cemetery, Snake Spring Valley.

If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Henry to the American Blind Association.
