Dorothy Louise (Hinish) Shaw, 80, of Everett, PA; went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Homewood in Martinsburg. She was born on March 4, 1944 in Everett, PA; a daughter of the late Howard C. and Fern K. (O'Neal) Hinish. On August 30, 1982 in Winchester, VA; she was united in marriage to Floyd W. Shaw. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2014.
She is survived by children Donald Ritchey married to Lynn (Dodson), Everett, PA; Christina (Ritchey) Wright, Altoona, PA and Michael Ritchey married to Diane (Smith), Everett, PA; step children Vickie married to Rick Brown with whom she shared a special bond with, Diane Nicholas, Patty Shaw, Debora married to Denton Clark, Kenneth Shaw married to the late Debra, Cindy married to Steve Bennett and Dennis Shaw married to Virginia; siblings Donald married to Ann; John Hinish married to Hon and Howard Hinish, Jr. married to Pam. She had a special connection with four grandchildren Jeremy Ritchey, Jenelle Chaney, Ashley Endress and Nicholas Brown; she is also survived by numerous additional grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1962. Dottie worked at Donahoe Manor for a number of years, working as a nurse’s aide and working in housekeeping.
She and her husband owned and operated a produce stand for many years.
Mrs. Shaw enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, working puzzle books and playing BINGO.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 4-6 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 6:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Showalter officiating.
Burial will be held privately by the family.
