Donald Showalter Obituary

Donald W. Showalter, 87, of Everett, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at UPMC Bedford.  He was born on March 12, 1939 in Everett, PA; a son of the late Warren E. and Velma R. (Lane) Showalter.  On October 07, 1961 in Everett, he was united in marriage to Deanna M. (Bollman) Showalter.

Along with his wife of sixty-four years he is survived by four children: Tami Kinser married to David; Donald Showalter married to Heidi; Vickie Zeth; and Ronald Showalter married to Dawn; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters Linda Yingling married to Dwight and Darlene McFarland and partner George Thompson; many nieces, nephews and cousins, special neighbors Robert and Michelle Beegle and his dog, faithful companion “Bullett”.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Paul Zeth and a nephew Tracy McFarland.

Donald was a 1957 graduate of Everett High School. He started bricklaying at the age of eighteen; he built buildings throughout Bedford County and the whole state. Over the years he was employed by Showalter Masonry.  He joined Bricklayers Allied Craftworkers Local Union No. 9 in June 1983.     

Donald was of the Christian faith.  He enjoyed sitting outside in the sun on the swing with his wife by his side, baking together, watching westerns and was an avid Steelers fan.  He was a member of the Everett Sportsman’s Club, NRA and liked shooting skeet and attending competitions.  He would take his boat to Shawnee Lake and spend the day.  He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing, ice fishing and coon hunting.  Spending time with his grandchildren was important, he enjoyed the pizza party’s with is grandson and

teaching the grandchildren the sport of fishing and hunting.  He also enjoyed singing and playing his guitar, and loved a good poker game.

Don was the family patriarch, always there for all family members and will be deeply missed.

At Donald’s request there will be no services.  Burial will be held privately at Frame Church Cemetery.
