Darvin Brothers Obituary

Darvin L Brothers, 82, of Everett, formally of Chaneysville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by his wife and loved ones. He was born February 7, 1944, in York County PA. He was the son of the late Malvin and Elizabeth (Rode) Brothers.  He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joyce (Miller), daughter, Karen (Hinish) Sciranko and husband Greg, son Jason and wife Autumn (Cartwright) and the joy of his life his 4 grandchildren Kyle Hinish and wife, Bethany (McPherson), Kayla Hinish (fiancé Trenton Keister), Winter Brothers, and Landyn Brothers. He is also survived by two brothers, William Brothers and Timothy Brothers and wife Joan and a brother-in-law Marlin Wilson all of the Harrisburg/York vicinity. As well as Joyce’s brother Mark Miller and sister June Bryner. In addition, he has 13 nieces and nephews and numerous greats that were all loved deeply.  He was preceded in death by sisters, Karen L Brothers and Melody Wilson.

After High School, Darvin joined the Marine Corp during which he was a Crew Chief to the Presidential Helicopter (HMX 1) during the Kennedy and Johnson administrations. After the military he worked for Automatic Door Specialist in Laural MD installing security doors/equipment for 35 years, then Grove Industries Inc as an end line inspector for 5 years. He met Joyce,while living in Maryland and they moved to Chaneysville(Hewitt) PA in 1984. Darvin was a faithful member of the Prosperity Christian Church where he served as a deacon. His calling in life was to help others. Whether it was fixing toys/games for his grandchildren or being a repairman/ trouble shooter for his wife, children, or as a volunteer at In One Accord, formally Love Inc. He always loved foreign missions, going on one work mission to Columbia and 4 work missions to Ecuador, South America, as well as supporting many missionaries. He was a member of the local Christians for Missions Group and he would like to leave you with this thought Serve Jesus, He is our strength.

Family and friends will be received at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett PA on Tuesday June 30th from 4 to 8. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 1st at Prosperity Christian Church, 1671 Chaneysville Road, ClearvillePA 15535 with a viewing from 11am to 1pm and service to start at 1pm, with Pastors Thomas Mowry and Russell Hoffman officiating. Burial at Prosperity Cemetery with military honors by the Everett Area Honor Guard.  In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Union Rescue Mission of Western Maryland, 710 N Centre Street, Cumberland MD 21502.   Online condolences may be expressed at www.akersfuneralhome.com.
