Clarence Melvin Deremer, Jr., 88, of Breezewood, PA; passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at home. He was born on June 27, 1936 in Everett, PA; a son of the late Clarence Melvin “Mike” Deremer, Sr. and Mable Olive (Brantner) Deremer. On April 15, 1965 in Winchester, VA; he was united in marriage to Sara R. (Williams) Deremer.
Along with his wife of sixty years, he is survived by three children Michael Deremer married to Shirley; Denver Lee Deremer married to Shirley Ann and Clarence M. “Pickle” Deremer III married to Lisa; grandchildren Andrea, Bruce, Cobey, Hunter, Mindy and Megan, great grandchildren Jaelynn, Jordan, Arianna and Payton; siblings Olive Calhoun, Thomas Deremer and Linda Ennis.
He was preceded in death by siblings Carl, John, James, Andrew Deremer and Mary Riddle.
Melvin was a member of the Breezewood Community Church. After high school he served in the United States Marine Corp from 1956-1958. Over the years he drove truck working at Leon Crush in Bedford, New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company and Roadway until retirement.
He served the community through various organizations as a Forest Fire Warden for fifty-five years, Pennsylvania State Constable for thirty-six years serving several counties; he was an original member of Raystown Ambulance serving since 1971 and served as Captain of Fire Police of the Breezewood Volunteer Fire Company for fifty-five years.
In addition to these organizations he volunteered for sixty years at the Bedford County Fair and served as a deputy sheriff for the Bedford County Sheriff’s Department.
Family and Friends may call at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 3-8 P.M. and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Breezewood Lighthouse Assembly of God Church with Pastor Mace Wilder, Pastor Ronald Hott and Pastor Tim Kirschner officiating.
Burial will be held at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
