Charles Harry McCormick, 83, of Hesston, Pennsylvania, formerly of Everett, peacefully went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2024. He was born on March 14, 1940 in Mechanicsburg, PA; the son of the late Harry B. and Elizabeth Jane (Wendell) McCormick. He is survived by his loving wife Gale D. McCormick of sixty years.
Along with his wife, Charles is also survived by siblings Carolyn Vanderhoff and son, Doris Duvall and family and Dr. Robert McCormick and son.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Charles Michael “Mike” McCormick, a sister Jane Vaughn and a brother William McCormick.
Charles was baptized and grew up in the Everett Assembly of God Church. He was a member of the Everett Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. No. 524.
He was a 1958 graduate of Everett High School and Allegheny Technical in Pittsburgh. He was employed at RCA in Lancaster before returning to Bedford County, where he was employed by Airtech in Bedford as a technician and company pilot. Later he and his wife owned and operated the Panorma Motel in Breezewood. He was then employed by JLG in Bedford and then later employed at Kennametal in Bedford from which he retired.
Charles enjoyed flying, boating, motorcycling, hunting and was a great story teller.
Friends and Family will be received on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 12 Noon to 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, Pennsylvania.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Wyns officiating.
Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.
