Charles L. LaSalle, 88, of LaSalle Street, Everett, PA; passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024. He was born on July 23, 1935 in Brookville, PA; a son of the late Edward and Mary Alice (Watchie) LaSalle. On December 01, 1955 in Winchester, VA; he was united in marriage to Janet R. (Burket) LaSalle.
Along with his wife, he is survived by sons Charles L. LaSalle, Jr. married to Joan of Breezewood and Dion P. LaSalle married to Deborah Chiappelli-LaSalle of Everett; grandsons Brandon, Richie, Nathan and Alec LaSalle; great grandchildren Keirsten, McKenzie, Taylor, Lukas and Otto.
He was preceded in death by siblings Barb O’Neal and Edward LaSalle.
Charles was a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School Class of 1954, where he was a three-sport letterer in baseball, football and basketball.
Charles started his working at the ford garage in Saxton, Giornesto’s, Caro’s Motors in Everett, George Transfer and Rigging Company until beginning his career alongside his son Dion in the startup of LaSalle’s Garage and Towing Company.
Mr. LaSalle was a member of the Everett Church of the Brethren. He was a Charter member and life member of the Everett Volunteer Fire Company, Associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Everett Lodge F.&A.M. No. 524, where he served as a Pursuivant.
Charles’ greatest joy was auto racing, being sure the race cars were ready to go and being at the racetracks on Friday and Saturday. He was very proud that LaSalle Family Racing was inducted into the Bedford County Sports Hall of Fame. He was active at the old South Penn Speedway as a driver and pit steward.
He enjoyed family vacations to the beach, and salt water fishing trips.
Friends and Family will be received on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 4-8 P.M. at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett and on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Benner officiating.
Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.
