Carolyn H. (Hollingshead) Imler Wright

On Friday, March 20, 2026, Carolyn H. (Hollingshead) Imler Wright, 91, was received by the Lord after a sudden heart attack. Carolyn was born on October 19, 1934, in Saxton, Pennsylvania, to Edgar (Ned) and Freda Mae Wilson Hollingshead.

On February 11, 1956, in Winchester, VA, Carolyn was united in marriage to John S. Imler. They were happily married for 54 years. Many years following John’s battle with Parkinson's, Carolyn married again to Ithel J. (Ike) Wright of Martinsburg, PA, on November 6, 2021. They had been high school sweethearts and were reacquainted through a mutual friend in 2019. Carolyn was preceded in death by her first husband, John, on August 4, 2009, and, more recently, Ike on August 21, 2025. Additionally, these family members will be awaiting Carolyn in Heaven: her son-in-law, Dr. Ralph Macek; her sister Ellen Hollingshead; her brother, Larry Hollingshead; her brother-in-law, the Rev. Dr. George M. Docherty; her parents.

Carolyn is survived by her brother George, 88, (Susan Smyers) Hollingshead of Homer City, PA, and her sister-in-Christ Sue Docherty of Alexandria, PA. As for her immediate family, she is survived by two sons Eric (Angie) of Nashville, TN and Scott of Tyrone, PA as well as her three daughters Barbara Macek of Media, PA, Deborah (Dr. John) Mullan of Cumberland, MD, and Alicia (Bill) Morgret of Harrisburg, PA. Along with her children, she is survived by 9 grandchildren: Courtney (Vern) Watson, Julie (Bill) Tyson, Travis Mullan, Erika (Bryant) Alsup, Morgan (David) Mullis, Allyson (Luke) Cable, Alex Morgret, Ian Imler, and Christian Imler. Additionally, Carolyn was blessed with four great-grandchildren Ben and Sophie Watson and Levi and Daisy Cable with a future baby Mullis due in July of 2026.

Carolyn was a woman of Faith. As a child, she attended the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren. After marriage to John, she joined the Everett Church of the Brethren. For over 60 years, she served in some capacity: organist, greeter, lay leader, committee member, pianist, and community health coordinator. Even after moving to Hummelstown with her youngest child, at age 79, Carolyn remained involved in nearby congregations through fellowship and music. During her last five years of life, she joined the Memorial Church of the Brethren in Martinsburg, PA, where she participated in Bible study, worship, and Soul Sisters.

Outside of her family and friends, nursing was Carolyn’s calling. Carolyn attended the Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned an RN, and then later earned certification from West Virginia University. She worked as an RN for over 40 years: Bedford Memorial Hospital, floor nurse; John E. Hartle, M.D. Family Practice, nurse/office manager; PA Department of Health, community health nurse; Penn Knoll Village, Assistant Director of Nursing/Infection Control Coordinator; Bedford County Technical School, Certified Nursing Instructor. She maintained her RN license until age 85.

Carolyn loved people and found joy in being with and helping others. She enjoyed participating in many organizations in the Everett/Bedford area during her lifetime: Everett Women’s Club, March of Dimes, Johnstown Flood Recovery Aide, ECB Women’s Fellowship, Retired Senior Volunteers Program, American Nurses Association, PolyClinic Alumni Association, and Business & Professional Women of Bedford County, to name a few. Her interests included reading, playing the piano, taking walks, camping in her early years, playing Yahtzee, dining out, and being with her family. In addition to her children and grandchildren’s activities, she loved travelling. She and John spent many of their golden years touring the United States.

When asked by others what they remembered most about Carolyn, it was her smile, laughter, steadfastness, and spirit. Such traits and her Faith allowed Carolyn, along with her husband John Imler, to create a good life for their family in Everett. Then, later with Alicia and Bill, she moved to a new home and life in Hummelstown, PA. Finally returning to her childhood church after finding love again with Ithel Wright, the two shared the joy of old memories and companionship in their last years.

A memorial celebration will take place at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537, on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Visitation will begin with family at 9:30AM. From 10 AM to 11 AM friends will be welcome to visit. Immediately following visitation, a celebration of life service is planned. A private burial of both John and Carolyn will occur later in the day at Bedford County Memorial Park.
