Carlton “Phillip” Christopher, 77, of Plank Road, Hopewell; passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center. He was born on June 16, 1946; a son of the late Herbert E. and Eleanor (Browell) Christopher. On November 22, 1996 in Virginia, he was united in marriage to Anna F. (Smith) Christopher.
Along with his wife he is survived by daughters Gail Kuhn significant other Jim Everhart of Claysburg, Nancy Figard of Six Mile Run and Amy Dawn Christopher of Labelle, FL; grandchildren, Drusilla Dell married to Nevin, Priscilla Kuhn, Cindy Fisher, Maddie Flasher, Joseph Everhart, Angela Hanson, Alexis Hanson, Amanda Hanson and numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Steven Christopher of North Carolina, Jane Beck married to Brian of East Freedom, Becky Beatty of Ohio, Samuel Christopher married to Terry of Ohio, Herbert Christopher married to Isabelle of South Carolina, Daniel Christopher married to Trisha of Bellefonte, Sally Koontz wife of the late Glenn of Everett, Nathan Christopher married to Christy of North Carolina and Benjamin Christopher of North Carolina; many nieces and nephews.
He graduated from NBC in 1964 then went on to be a Sergeant in the United States Air Force for seven years where he served overseas in the Azores. He was the owner and operator for C&S Sanitation for nearly 35 years and also worked at Westinghouse/Bedford Materials for 30 plus years. Phil was a great husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, veteran and farmer to all who knew him.
Phillip was a member of the Community Grace Brethren Church where he attended faithfully. He loved the Lord, who he went home to be with who he loved and served faithfully.
He loved his farm and animals, each cow had a name and listened and knew his name. He could tell you every detail about each breed of cow. He enjoyed watching them and enjoyed all the jobs that came with it. He worried more about the cows more than anything, he would call and say “the cows are not eating the hay, or we need to get the fences fixed, move the cows to the other field, cows are out.” He had two tractors both Massey Fergusons, 1 large and 1 small. He would use the smaller one rather than get the bigger one out. He was proud of his farm.
He loved writing about his life and kept many journals and was always looking things up about his heritage. Oh, the things he has written!
