Carl M. Barnett Jr.

Carl M. Barnett Jr., 76, of Hesston passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the VA Hospital Pittsburgh.  He was born on April 27, 1947 in Three Springs, son of the late Carl M. Sr. and Ladema (Knepper) Barnett.  He married Patsy (Hinkle) Barnett on December 15, 1984 in Mill Creek.

Surviving is his wife, a daughter Brenda (Barnett) Brumbaugh of Hollidaysburg, a step daughter Sherri Lynn (Hinkle) Walker of McConnelstown, 2 grandchildren Victoria and Jacob Brumbaugh, brother Glenn Barnett and wife Connie, sisters Vonnie Greene and Nellie Jack and husband Johnny and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law Matthew Brumbaugh, four sisters Barbara, Deloris, Dorothy and Sheila and three brothers Merrill, Elmer and Ricky.

Carl was a 1965 graduate of Southern Huntingdon High School.  He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 – 1970. He retired as a supervisor from Fiberglass Huntingdon and after retirement was employed in the Garden Department at Walmart and then in the lumberyard at APM, Huntingdon.

Carl was a member of the Woodcock Valley Lions Club and as a Police Lieutenant at the Marklesburg Volunteer Fire Company.  He enjoyed tinkering, reading Western books and watching movies, anything John Deere, going to the auctions in Todd and sitting on his porch.

Friends will be received from 6-8 P.M. Monday, October 9, 2023 at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street Saxton, PA and on Tuesday from 9 A.M until the hour of service.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel with Mr. Steve Murray officiating.  

Burial will be held at the Grandview Cemetery, with full military honors the Broad Top Honor Guard.

If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Carl to the funeral home to assist the family with expenses.
