Calvin J. Childers

Calvin J. Childers, 72, of Eichelberger Road, Hopewell, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at home.  He was born on September 5, 1948 in Sandy Run, PA; a son of the late Chester and Emma (Spahn) Childers.  On February 27, 1970 in West Virginia; he was united in marriage to Patricia A. (Foor) Childers.

Along with his wife of fifty years he is survived by step son Kevin Foor married to Nina; granddaughter Kristen Foor; two great grandchildren; siblings Phillip Childers married to Rose, Hopewell; Chester Childers husband of the late Beverly, Everett; George Childers married to Barb, Hopewell and Dennis Childers married to Dixie, Saxton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two children Tammy and Bradley Childers; and a sister Paula Hicklin.

Calvin was a member of Round Knob Church of God.

He was a graduate of Tussey Mountain High School Class of 1967.  Calvin was employed at New Enterprise Stone and Lime for thirty years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working with his brothers and spending time with family.  Calvin always enjoyed helping others.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Musser officiating.

Friends and Family will be received on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 6-8 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678 and on Friday from 10:00 AM. until the hour of service.  We ask that those in attendance would follow CDC guidelines by wearing a mask and following social distancing.

Burial will be held at Duvall Cemetery, Six Mile Run, PA.
