C. Jean (Hetrick) Brumbaugh

C. Jean Brumbaugh, 96, of James Creek, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at the Village of Morrisons Cove in Martinsburg, PA.  Jean was born on December 27, 1928, a daughter to the late Harry “Bud” L. and Clemma M. (Liveringhouse) Hetrick.

On May 28, 1948 in Marklesburg, PA; she was united in marriage to Lester G. Brumbaugh.   He preceded her in death on December 14, 2007.  

She is survived by a son, William L. Brumbaugh married to Beverly of James Creek, PA; three grandchildren William A. Brumbaugh married to Marcy, Bradley A. Brumbaugh and Robert A. Brumbaugh; eight great grandchildren Wyatt married to Madison, Morgan, Sophie and fiancé Dawson, Nicholas, Alaina, Lucas, Ava, and Carly and three great great-grandchildren Rowan, Rawlings and Saylor.  She is also survived by sisters Shirley Treece and Beverley Putt, sister-in-law Alda Hetrick, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings Charles D. “Jim” Hetrick, Isabel Fouse, Barbara Starr, Janet Traverse, and William Lynn, a cousin who was reared in the family home.  

Jean graduated from Huntingdon Area High School, Class of 1947. She worked as a waitress at Fouse’s Dairy until starting her career as a supervisor in Environmental Textile Services of J.C. Blair Hospital, retiring in 1991.

Jean was a lifetime member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Marklesburg, PA, where she taught Sunday school.   She was a charter member of the Marklesburg Volunteer Fire Company, a 4-H Leader, a Cub Scout Leader, and a past member of the Huntingdon County Children’s Service Advisory Board.  After her retirement, she volunteered as a greeter at J.C. Blair Hospital.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling and taking bus trips to various places.

Friends and family will be received at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678 on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Dale Parker officiating. 

Burial will be held at Old Stone Church Cemetery, Rt. 26, James Creek, PA
