Brian J. McCall

Brian J. “Turk” McCall, 62, of Clearville, PA went on to Gloryland to save us a spot (as he would say) on Monday, December 9, 2019, at home with the love of his life by his side.

He was born in Manila, Republic of the Philippines on October 6, 1957, to parents Hugh J. (deceased) and H. Dolores “Dee” McCall of Westminster, CO. He “won the lottery” when he fell in love with Miss Annie in 1989 and “finally” married her on October 12, 2001, in Everett, PA. Along with his wife, Ann (Cochran) McCall, he is survived by his mother; aunt, Sr. Gloria “Tia” Ruiz, of Maryknoll, NY; siblings (of whom he was the oldest of the youngest) including brother, Hugh J. McCall of Broomfield, CO; sister, Dolores M. McCall of Arvada, CO; Deirdre K. McCall of Centreville, VA; brother, Kevin E. McCall (Maureen) of Sykesville, MD; brother, Mark FX McCall of Westminster, CO; brother, Brendan J. McCall (Wendy) of McSherrystown, PA; and baby sister, Daria P. (McCall) Archuleta (Mark) of Harpers Ferry, WV; mother-in-law, Marianna Cochran of Arlington, VA; brother-in-law, Jeffrey T. Cochran of Big Stone Gap, VA; sister-in-law, Ellen M. Cochran (Charlie Leuthner) of Victoria, MN; and brother-in-law, Daniel H. Cochran of Falls Church, VA in addition to nieces, nephews, cousins, and a family of countless friends - those who already met him and those who now get to meet him through his spirit which he left behind in all who knew him.

He grew up in Maryland, but also lived in California, Texas and in Ankara, Turkey which was the source of the nickname, Turk, by which he was known more so than his given name, Brian. He was an “awesome carpenter” in the Washington, DC area and owned a construction company for a short time. His projects were known as “Turk-Built” because they were as hard to knock down as he was. Never one who was at a loss for words, he made friends everywhere he went and never forgot a name. In his case, there was usually only two degrees of separation of social connection, not six. He loved to take the back roads on antique tractor rides around Southampton Township and was a legendary leader of the pack on his epic motorcycle rides. Known for his boxing prowess and unorthodox work-out regimen, he was tough on the outside with a heart of gold on the inside. He was a surfer, avid reader, storyteller, trailblazer, idea man, and bluegrass enthusiast. He loved riding through the woods, bird watching, and laughed every day which he started and ended with a cup of coffee sitting beside Miss Annie. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. (Psalm 23)

A Celebration of Turk’s Incredible Life will be held at a later date.
