Betty Jane (Arvin) Mearkle

Betty Jane Mearkle, 93, of Everett, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Bedford Acute Care.  She was born on April 15, 1931 in Clearville, PA; a daughter of the late Lester and Florence (Messersmith) Arvin.  On May 15, 1953 in Winchester, VA; she was united in marriage to Floyd R. Mearkle. 

Along with her husband of seventy-one years, she is survived by a daughter Lucy Mearkle and fiancé Bill Beck of Everett, and a son Gerald Mearkle married to Barbara (Samuel) of Everett, PA; grandchildren Cindi Feather, Charles Feather and Jamie Mearkle; great grandchildren Shane and Scott Feather; siblings Olive Smith and Dorothy Morral. 

She was preceded in death by siblings Flora George, Irene Deremer, and an infant brother.

She was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1952. 

Betty was a member of the Everett Grace Brethren Church.  She was a beautician who owned and operated Betty Mearkle & Joann Swindell Beauty Shop. 

Friends and Family will be received on Friday, January 03, 2025 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and on Saturday, January 04, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 04, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Everett with Pastor John Townsend officiating.

Burial will be held at the Everett Cemetery.
