Betty M. Koontz, 85, of Hopewell, PA, passed away on July 24, 2025 at home. She was born on January 03, 1940 in Everett, PA; a daughter of the late William and Elmira M. (Redinger) Whisel. She was united in marriage to Robert Benjamin Koontz on May 19, 1959 at the First Christian Church; he preceded her in death on June 01, 2001.
She is survived by two sons Bradley Koontz married to Jennifer (Lear), Hopewell, PA and Brian Koontz married to Kate (Howsare), Hopewell, PA; grandchildren Emilee Koontz and Colton Koontz; siblings Donna Sponslor, Mechanicsburg, PA, Patricia Zook married to John, Martinsburg, PA, Ronald Whisel married to June, Tempe, AZ, Linda Felton, Martinsburg, PA, sisters-in-law Darlene Whisel and Berneice Whisel.
She was preceded in death by siblings Doris Williams (Luke), Robert Whisel, Donald Earl Whisel, William Whisel and Terry Whisel and brothers-in-law Luke Williams, Donald Sponslor and Harry Felton.
Betty was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1957. She was a cashier at the Everett Bank for many years retiring in 1996.
Betty was a member of the First Christian Church and attended Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren. She was a member of the Everett Alumni Association and loved spending time with her granddaughter and caring for her dog “Fin”.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Hinish officiating.
Burial will be held at Yellow Creek Reformed Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Fabric of Faith at Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren.
