Betty L. (Clark) Calhoun

Betty L. Calhoun, 91, of Menchtown Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Colonial Courtyard, Bedford.  She was born on June 2, 1929 in Wharton Township; a daughter of the late Henry S. and Anna Belle (Showalter) Clark.  On April 27, 1946 in Cumberland, MD; she was united in marriage to Ross Vernon Calhoun.  He preceded her in death on February 14, 1992. 

She is survived by three children Linda K. married to A. Wayne Fluke, Everett, Charlotte A. Houck wife of the late George H., Alexandria, PA;  Wayne R. Calhoun married to Sheila (Goodrich), Everett; sister Janet Daniels married to Wilbur “Danny”; grandchildren that referred to her affectionately as Nana and Tiny Nana: Amy Hoover (Brian), Rustin Fluke (Beth), Mendy Ferguson (Dean), Aaron Fluke (Ashley), Julie Woodling (Mike) Brady Calhoun, Matthew Calhoun (Samantha); great grandchildren Luke (Amy) and Tyler Hoover, Collin Fluke, Ryan Elizabeth, Evan, Levi and Isaac Fluke, Maverick Woodling, Ezra and Audra Calhoun.

She was preceded in death by grandson Glenn C. Koontz, Jr., great grandson Daniel Woodling and siblings William Clark, Helen Wise and Floyd Clark.

Betty was a charter member of the Clear Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, and attended Mt. Union Christian Church for many years where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the choir.  She most recently was attending Bedford Bible Church with family.  Although she faced many challenges in recent years, she often shared her faith in Jesus Christ and how thankful she was for his many blessings.

Mrs. Calhoun worked at Lions Manufacturing for many years as a seamstress.  She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles with a bowl of popcorn, playing table games with family and friends and spending time with family and her trips to Kelly’s Restaurant to meet friends for breakfast.

Private funeral services will be held in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with burial at Mt. Union Cemetery.
