Bette McDavid Obituary

Bette McDavid, 71, passed away on Wednesday, October 01, 2025. She was born in Santa Barbara, CA on November 22, 1953.  She moved to Virginia when she was 18 and met Nellie Church who she looked upon as her mom.  She married her true love, Howard McDavid on July 17, 2007.  He preceded her in death in 2009.

She is survived by two daughters Bobbie married to Danny Rush, Jr. and Cathy married to Willy Rush, and Robert Holmes who she treated as her son; grandchildren, William Rush, Dana Rush and partner Landon Deenen, Amber married to Cole Stickel, Gracie, Matthew and Payden; great grandchildren, Carson, Harper, Addison and Landon, Jr.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Billie Brumm (Ramsey).

She started working career with a fencing company in Virginia and also working at Red Fox Inn as a cook.  In 1991 she moved to Pennsylvania where she worked as a cook in various restaurants and later was a housekeeper at Friendship Village until her retirement. 

She was a member of the Everett Seventh Day Adventist Church.  She loved the Lord first, her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and sons-in-law.   

She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and sitting on the porch in the fall which was her favorite time of the year.  She was an avid New York Yankees fan.

Family and friends will be received at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M. and a service immediately following in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Ball officiating.

Burial will be held at Tatesville Community Church Cemetery.
