Beth Michelle Hollingshead, 61, of Bedford, PA; passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. She was born on September 11, 1958 in Everett, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Robert H. and Arlene G. (Gordon) Hollingshead. She was formerly married to Paul Barnes.
She is survived by siblings Susan married to John Sharpe; Steve Hollingshead married to Carrie; Robyn married to Dennis Leppert; nieces Kimberly and Megan and nephew Colby; extended family and caregivers Michele Bailey and Tracy Sigler who Beth considered to be her, "Adopted Sisters" stood by her through the very end. Brenda and Joe Popelish, April Armstrong wife of Angie Suydam; lifelong friends Mark Batzel, Brian Williams and Evie Frederick and her constant companion her dog “Dolly”.
Beth was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1977 and graduate of Messiah College majoring in Psychology and also attended Pinebrook Junior College. She served as coordinator for the Bedford United Methodist Church Adult Day Care Center for several years. She enjoyed playing the guitar, banjo and trumpet, spending time on the beach, flying kites, hiking, traveling, and had a great sense of humor and loved to travel. She was also a die-hard Steeler's fan.
Ms. Hollingshead worked as an ordained assistant minister at the Olderbind Methodist Church as well as a home nursing adult daycare coordinator with Somerset-Bedford MHMR, Bedford Midway Plaza South Side, Fort Bedford Museum and Old Bedford Village as well as volunteering at the Bedford Humane Society.
She was a member of Yeager Lutheran Church.
Friends and Family will be received at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service.
Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Jenny Barnes officiating.
Burial will be held privately at Mt. Union Cemetery.
