Barbara J. (Whitfield) Hanks

Barbara J. Hanks, 62, of Everett; passed away on Wednesday, March 04, 2026 at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.  She was born June 11, 1963 in Harrisburg, PA.  She was the daughter of Gary Whitfield of Everett and the late Wanda (McFarland) Whitfield.  On June 12, 1982 at Crystal Spring Camp Meeting Grounds she was united in marriage to Harry A. Hanks.

Barbara is survived by a daughter Laura Oldham married to Derek, Everett, PA; siblings Greg Whitfield, Breezewood, PA, Tracie Pittman married to Trevor, Everett, PA and Kristie Whitfield, Bedford, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was a 1981 graduate of Everett High School.  She attended Clear Ridge Fellowship Church and Breezewood United Methodist Church over the years.  She enjoyed caring for her home, shopping on QVC, sitting on the porch in the summer, walking, being with her dogs and spending time with family and friends.

Friends and family will be received at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 on Monday, March 09, 2026 from 4:30 – 7:00 P.M. and Tuesday, March 10, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Clifford Swankler officiating.

Burial will be held at the Providence Church Cemetery.
