Arlene L. Pittman

Arlene Lavern (Lashley) Pittman, 92, of Martinsburg (formerly of Roaring Spring) passed away on February 7, 2024, at Homewood at Martinsburg. 

She was born on January 23, 1932 in Everett, daughter of the late George William Lashley and Anna Charlotte (Brumbaugh) Lashley.  

On March 16, 1951, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Arland Keith Pittman. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, son Eric Pittman, brother Wilmer Lashley and brothers-in-law John Criswell and Dan Dears. 

She is survived by her sister Joyce Criswell of Everett and sisters in-law, Velma Morris (Clyde) of Everett and Joyce Pittman of Pittsburgh; grandson, Ty Pittman, and great-granddaughters Adalyn, Aubrey, and Avery of Altoona; a step-granddaughter Tori Akins and step great-grandsons Ethan and Spencer of Altoona; nieces Connie Micatrotto, Jill Payne, Cindy Speck (Ted), and Lana Timmins: great-niece Becca Webb; and nephew Kirt Morris. 

Arlene graduated from Everett Southern Joint High School in 1950. 

Arlene’s passion in life was music. She attended Sherwood Music School and received a diploma in piano, theory, and harmony. She also attended various music education courses for teachers at Penn State and in Pittsburgh. Arlene was a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and a member of the American College of Musicians. She devoted her career to teaching private piano lessons in her home in Roaring Spring for over 60 years. During this time, she held piano student recitals, piano guild auditions, and played in numerous piano and two-piano concerts for the community. 

Arlene was a member of Christ Church in Roaring Spring and shared her deep love for the Lord and music serving as their organist. 

Arlene was devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed family picnics at their Roaring Spring home, boating and fishing at Raystown Lake and especially loved spending time with Arland at their condo in Ocean City, MD, boating and fishing in the bay and eating seafood.  

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA  from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at 12:00 Noon with Pastor John Nothwang officiating. 

Burial will be held at the Everett Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the music program at Christ Church, 7758 Woodbury Pike, Roaring Spring, PA 16673. 

The family is very grateful to the staff at Homewood for the care, support, and kindness they provided to Arlene for many years.
