Alan Barry Carr, 88, of Johnstown, PA; passed away on Sunday, June 08, 2025. He was born on January 17, 1937, the son of the late James and Olive (High) Carr.
Barry is survived by his three children, Karen Carr of Richmond, VA, Matthew Cody Carr, (Debby) of Laurel, MD, and Alan Carr (Anne) of Bowie, MD; stepchildren, Trevor and Tara; sister, Gail Lincoln; two nieces and one nephew (Becky, Vanessa and Kenny); three grandchildren (Josh, Amy and Jacob) and three great-grandchildren (Mira, Logan and Elijah). He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda.
Barry earned his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics. He worked for many years as a congressional researcher for the Department of Agriculture and the Library of Congress. He was a professor at Texas A&M and also spent some time teaching in Armenia. His passions included gardening, his dogs and telling good stories.
Barry’s ashes will be scattered by his children on family property where he liked to hunt. A private time of remembrance will be held at a later date.
